i think it’s a combination of nature and nurture. some people are genetically predisposed to it, but only the people who are then also exposed to the right environmental factors develop the disorder.
that’s why you get the lucky bastards who go through the same stuff as you but never have trouble with food. it’s like, you can flick the switch (environment) but a light will only come on if there’s a lightbulb (genetics) there in the first place.
did that make sense?!

I agree with gagravarr. It’s the nature vs. nurture, chicken or the egg debate.
Research certainly demonstrate that it runs in families. Two out of three girls in my family have ed’s. I think part of it is related to being predisposed to addictive personalities.
